Come and visit the Land that God calls “My Land.” This tour of Israel promises to be a life-changing event as you see and study the events and sites where it all happened. Get to know the places that are on the pages of the Bible and walk where Jesus and his disciples walked and performed the miracles that you’ve always heard about. This trip will change the way that you look at the Bible. Every time that you open it after you’ve been to the authentic sites you will see it more vividly than you ever imagined. And you will open it even more than you ever have before. Here is a little background about your tour hosts.
John & Mary Somerville
John is a retired Marine Corps Colonel. During his 30 years in the Corps he was an Infantry Officer and later an Intelligence Officer specializing in the Middle East. John spent time in Israel, Turkey, Somalia, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria and Washington, D.C. Somerville first went to the Middle East in the early 70's and has made more than 60 trips there in the ensuing years. For six years he was the Central Region Coordinator for Christians United for Israel. His interest in the Land of the Bible and archaeology enables him to speak with authority (and good humor) about the historical and current military/political events in the region. In 2005 he was honored with the prestigious "Friend of Israel" award. He earned a Ph.D. from the Ohio State University.
John and Mary live on a ranch in the Sierra Nevada Mountains of California. They have six children and a dozen grandchildren. Mary first visited Israel in 1955 and has only fallen in love with it more and more over the years. “The highlight of every year is when I return home to Jerusalem and take friends with us to share the joy of seeing what God is doing there.” Ask Mary about her experience in volunteering to assist the Israeli army for a couple of weeks. But be careful because she will have you ready to enlist in no time.
