Out of a beautiful disaster came a strength found in God, the realization that family bonds and genuine friendships are truly unbreakable, and people coming together to help another soul in their time of need is glorious. Our hearts were called to pay back the good deeds we were recipients of and to pay it forward for all, especially those who do not have the blessings of family and friends that we do. The desire to help others facing tragedy and disaster is in honor of those who helped strangers who ended up in the ER of a hospital when they were on their way to a dream wedding.
On his way to his favorite niece’s wedding his motorcycle was hit by a flying object, throwing him off the road in into 4 railroad ties at the end of grapevines. The groom immediately called the ambulance, as well as his bride, to inform them of the horrific freak accident. The bride-to-be, bride’s mother and grandmother (his sister and mother) as well as his fiancé and the other half of the wedding party rushed to the scene to find a horrific sight. The ambulance down this old country road to the scene of an entire wedding party standing in the middle of this road in a state of fear and confusion. The ambulance took him to Community Regional Medical of Fresno. He arrived in a tux, or what was left of his torn and cut up tux, without ID and was given the name INDIGO. We have been Indigo's Girls since then.
During his, our or should I say the family’s, 33 stay we witnessed the kindness of friends, family and complete strangers. This was a time of awakening. This awakened our faith not only in the Lord, but also in the human race. We realized that we are all connected. When one of us hurts so do all of us. When we help someone else heal, we heal ourselves. Once we were out of the woods and into the light, where we knew that Indigo was going to recover we decided that we wanted to give back to the world. Mostly because we felt that we were more fortunate than most and wanted everyone to experience the glory we had witnessed.
After months of throwing the idea around, I came upon this in an online dictionary: World-Soul (Greek: ψυχή κόσμου, Latin: Anima mundi) is, according to several systems of thought, an essential connection between all living things on the planet, which relates to our world in much the same way as the soul is connected to the human body.
Through meditation, prayer, research, hoping and just plain ole "what do you think about?" the name INDIGO WORLD SOUL was decided upon. We believe it fits us and our long term goals perfectly. We plan on starting off with small undertakings, helping our own communities one at a time until we can take on the challenge of larger missions. Either way we know that the change, regardless of how large or small will affect healing and offer positivity to the World Soul.
Thank you for being a part of our journey. Our SOULdiers are the ones causing this wonderful change, one small, intentional act of kindness at a time. We appreciate you more than you'll ever know.
